From Grains of Sand

Auguries of Innocence

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour

Penelope the Missing Pomeranian

Like everyone else,  I’ve had a lot of time to explore my interests, or at least those that don’t involve leaving the house while quarantining at home this year. So naturally, I focused on my writing.

If you read my first post, you know that, while I have published in several professional journals throughout my career as a special educator, I recently began toying with fiction, mostly for an audience of one, namely myself.

Given how long the pandemic has dragged on, it’s not surprising that I have several manuscripts in progress. While I could quite happily continue writing for my own entertainment, I decided that it was time to commit to finishing something. By that, I mean sharing it with others, which was very scary. Scarier still was summoning the audacity to publish it.

I have always loved children’s literature, so I chose to start my self-publishing journey with something simple. I settled on a little story about a very special little dog. After all, who doesn’t love a children’s story about a dog?

I know that friends and family will buy my book simply to support me, and that is much appreciated. More importantly, I hope that Penelope’s curiosity and adventurous spirit will inspire young readers.
